FORBES FIELD MEMORIES You are looking at two rare, mint condition, full color, uncut sheets of 24 Forbes Field postcards from the Forbes Field Memories series. Each sheet measures 13 inches wide by 26 inches high. The Forbes Field Memories Series of postcards featured two separate series of 12 different, full color postcards including Series I (postcard nos. 1 through 12) and Series II (postcard nos. 13 through 24). Series I was published in 1998 while Series II came two years later in 2000. Forbes Field was home to the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1909 to 1970. At various times it was also home to the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pitt Panthers football teams, as well as the famed Homestead Grays of the Negro Leagues. The postcards on these uncut sheets include interior and exterior views of the ballpark. Also two shots from the 1960 World Series, three from the 1959 All-Star Game, a pro football game (Steelers vs 49ers) from 1950 (this may be the oldest color photo of Forbes Field known to exist), and a circa 1969 aerial view of the ballpark and the Oakland neighborhood of Pittsburgh that it called home. Finally, there’s a view of a section of the outfield wall that remains intact to this day. PRICE: |
