Len Martin was born in Sharon, Pennsylvania in 1949. His exposure to commercial art, architecture and engineering contributed to his development as an artist and illustrator. Len's early work at Youngstown State University was heavily influenced by the Pop and Modern art movement of the 1960s and 70s. Alex Kurtanich, a civil engineer and Al Bright his art Professor at Youngstown State University exerted the greatest influence on his experiences and drawing style with their sense of detail, perspective, and color. The admiration of works created by the great masters of design and illustration like Frank Lloyd Wright, Norman Rockwell, Walt Disney and Leonardo Da Vinci implanted a strong desire to be an illustrator. By the '70s Len was drawn to the industrial art and manufacturing world through his admiration for the work of David Kimble, Richard Leech and Jim Dye. Specializing in steel mill and industrial cutaway illustration, Len has earned a reputation as one of the world's premiere technical industrial illustrators. Since 1978, Len's talent has been recognized by the advertising industry; he has received numerous awards from Industrial Graphics International, McGraw-Hill, The Press Club of Western Pa, and Western PA Printing. Over the years, Len has worked for many of the top industrial companies in the world.

Although largely self-taught, Len has a strong background in art, architecture, and engineering drafting and design. Today he primarily works as a computer graphics professional in both fine and commercial industrial art. Len's studio is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
